There's a place in Manitoba, on lake Winnipeg, where an old building sits. A cafe called The Moonlight Inn. Behind the cafe there's a small field leading out onto a peninsula. Docks and boats to one side, and a serene sandy beach to the other. If you stand on the beach and gaze out on a clear day, the water touches the sky, just as the ocean would.
I have travelled there from my home, Edmonton Alberta, almost every year. It's probably my favourite place in the world. It's the inspiration for this debut album and these are the stories from "The Sailor's Heart".
